BackgroundEdit

This song is dedicated to Amber Clark. She was my supervisor at the North Natomas Library for almost a year. On December 11th, 2018, she was shot and killed in the parking lot. I was in the break room when it happened.

The library is like a second home to me, and the people there aren’t just my co-workers, they’re family, and that day we lost someone truly special. Her love and enthusiasm for literacy and art was unparalleled, and her position allowed her to share her passion with the entire Sacramento community.

To anyone watching, if I could ask one thing of you it would be this: Don't take anyone for granted. Hold your loved ones close. But even more than that, live the life you want to live. Our time in this universe is criminally short, so make every second count.

Rest in peace, Amber. Your family and friends of the Sacramento Public Library miss you and will always remember to carry on your legacy.

LyricsEdit

One can only wonder how fast things change, well I know
It only takes a moment to lose a light to shadow

Living on the rails like everyday, in control
A sudden flash followed by frozen silence had stolen you away

I know some things aren't in my hands
But I just cannot understand
Why I had to say goodbye to someone so extraordinary

I wish that I could just move on
But it's still surreal to know you're gone
Can we ever mend the hole in this broken sanctuary?

I'm still waiting to wake up from this bad dream
But it still plays out no matter how I cry and scream

It's not fair for someone else to choose when you depart
Now we already miss the infectious glow that resided in your heart

I wish that I could just move on
But it's still surreal to know you're gone
Can we ever mend the hole in this broken sanctuary?

With all of this reminding me
That tomorrow's never guaranteed
I will live and hold onto the fire of your legacy

I will live and hold onto the fire of your legacy
I will live and hold onto the fire of your legacy
